As ever the 2018 vintage Lock & Key Shiraz lives up to the Moppity Vineyards reputation for consistently producing high quality, cool climate Shiraz, well above its price point. All the fruit is sourced from a high altitude, single vineyard in Hilltops, in Southern NSW. The winery believes a key element of all ‘Moppity Shiraz’ comes from the art of blending small batches of different blocks and clones to produce wines that have a kaleidoscope of flavour and textural profiles. Moppity Vineyards was the winner of the Great Australian Shiraz Challenge in 2014 & 2016.
2018 was a moderate vintage with warm days balanced by cooler night temperatures which produced fruit with incredible colour and intensity of flavour but with good natural acidity and brightness.
Cold soaked pre-ferment, 12 day fermentation, barrel aged in a combination of older French hogsheads and stainless steel. Winery Notes
